Signal/Noise
Personal ProjectSignal / Noise is a speculative branding project for a multi-genre music festival set in Meredith, Victoria. The festival brings together electronic, rap, punk, and alt-rock acts, targeting an audience of music lovers who value discovery, subculture, and genre crossover rather than mainstream polish. The identity is designed to appeal to people who attend festivals for atmosphere as much as the lineup itself. It is targeted towards those drawn to immersive environments, late-night sets, and the physical textures of live music culture.
The visual direction explores the tension between clarity and distortion, drawing on ideas of interference, signal breakdown, and analogue noise. A restrained, monochromatic palette is paired with fragmented typography, pixelated elements, and layered textures to reference soundwaves, glitches, and broadcast systems. This approach creates a flexible identity that translates across posters, apparel, passes, and merchandise, while allowing each touchpoint to feel tactile and collectible. The outcome is a cohesive yet raw branding system that reflects the experimental nature of the lineup and the rugged landscape of Meredith itself.
